The CCBC operates through partnerships and strategic alliances with public and private entities in the region. These alliances and partnerships enable the CCBC to attract and leverage new resources for marketing, to coordinate activities with other organizations and to work as a unified team on targeted industry projects to attract and retain business. The CCBC leads efforts to promote coordination, cooperation and synergistic support among public and private entities in the region. Partnerships may take the form of meeting companies interested in expanding in or moving to Cook County, joint exhibitions at trade shows, co-sponsorships of real estate broker conferences, cost-sharing on marketing expenses, information sharing, networking and fundraising.

CCBC works closely with its Partner Network - a broad-based group including economic development organizations, workforce development organizations, business development organizations, regional planning councils, community colleges, universities, municipal, state and federal agencies, and key business sectors and trade associations.

Some examples of ongoing partnerships include: international strategic partner matching with the U.S. Department of Commerce and World Business Chicago; real estate industry trade show marketing with the Illinois Hospitality Committee; developing Partner Region relationships in Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Spain and China; trade show exhibiting with the Illinois Department of Agriculture; sector research with the Illinois Food Safety & Technology Center; sharing building and site data and client leads with ComEd (electric utility) and Peoples Energy (gas utility); co-sponsorship of foreign trade seminars and trade delegations with the International Trade Club of Chicago, The John Marshall Law School, the World Trade Center Chicago, the Italian American Chamber of Commerce - Midwest and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.
